Kristen Yetman was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After attending the Fine Arts program for Drawing and Painting at the University of Manitoba, she spent many years living in Mexico and Japan. Heavily influenced by her experiences abroad (in particular Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico and the 2011 Tohoku earthquake in Japan) her work explores cultural and historical expressions of death and immortality. Working in oil, acrylic, pen and ink she creates narrative dreamscapes that mash up classic fairy tales, religious iconography, Japanese anime and Mythological creatures.
Kristen currently lives in Toronto, Ontario.
